I worked for Stan in Newcastle for a good part of the same time period that David mentions, and echo his sentiments about the great example Stan set. For young people like we were then, entering the professional world for the first time, the combination he embodied of determination, keenness of insight, professionalism, honesty, kindness and humour set us in good stead.
